General Cancellation Policy:

  • Classes in any school located IN the city of Winkler are cancelled due to storm conditions

  • Highway 32 (Winkler North/South) and/or Highway 14 (Hospital corner through Winkler to Plum Coulee) are closed

  • Temperatures (without windchill) are -30°c or below

  • Temperatures (with windchill) are -35°c or below

Special Circumstances:

(left to the discretion of the nightly program director)

  • Programs *MAY* run if schools were closed in the morning due to an overnight storm but severe weather has cleared up, roads are all open and safe to travel on.

  • Last Minute cancellation of a program or early shutdowns may happen if a storm develops mid/late afternoon or during a program. In the case of a last minute cancellation, we will post on our social media. Should a program be shutdown early due to a storm, we ask that you promptly pick up your student or arrange a ride home immediately.

  • Please try to remember that we have students and volunteers coming from OUTSIDE of Winkler’s city limits. We need to ensure the safety of ALL staff, students, and volunteers.

  • We will try our very best to have the cancellation posted on our social media as soon as we know!

  • DO NOT travel on Closed Highways!! If the highways are closed, that doesn’t mean find an alternate route. The safety of our students/volunteers and their families are of highest importance!
