OUR STORY

Industrial Eats would have no story without you. Truly—thank you.

When you book Industrial Eats, you’re doing more than feeding a crowd good food! You’re helping support The Bunker Youth Drop-in Centre, a safe and welcoming place for youth in our community. Industrial Eats exists as a social enterprise, created to help fund the work of The Bunker in a sustainable way. Instead of relying solely on donations, we serve great food at public and private events to help keep the doors open.

HOW  IT STARTED

Industrial Eats was established in 2012 as the catering division of The Bunker Youth Ministry. The vision was simple: create a reliable income stream that could support youth programming beyond church and community donations.

Our beginnings were humble. We started as a small pop-up food booth, operating every Thursday from May to September in the Co-op@Home parking lot. Those early days laid the foundation for everything that followed.

Fun Fact: The Bumble Bee logo for Industrial Eats was inspired by an old nickname for The Bunker: 'The B', dating all the way back to 1984!

Growing with the community

By 2014, demand had grown enough that we moved operations to The Bunker’s outdoor patio, giving us more space to serve and connect with the community.

In 2018, we took another big step and began building our food truck. The following year, in 2019, we officially launched it at events, giving Industrial Eats a more professional and mobile presence.

Adapting and thriving

Like many businesses, 2020 forced us to adapt. During COVID-19, we transitioned fully to the food truck to meet safety requirements. We expanded our menu and introduced what would become a crowd favourite—our signature fresh-cut fries. That season marked a period of significant growth, allowing us to take part in more events than ever before.

Where we are today

Today, Industrial Eats operates as a fully certified food truck and kitchen, serving a wide range of events and locations. Each summer, we participate in more than 100 events, generating roughly 20% of The Bunker’s annual operating budget. Every order helps support youth in meaningful, practical ways.

Catering & Events

We offer catering for private and public events, including weddings, corporate staff appreciation events, picnics, and community gatherings. Our menu is intentionally focused, allowing us to do a few things really well, while still being open to collaboration and custom menu options when possible.
